The Hero : Reckoning
There have been films, books and comics that in the past, have attempted to answer the question "What would happen if a real person decided to become a superhero?"
With an upcoming short, we're hoping to answer that question but in a way it's never been answered before and THIS time you can be included in the process by helping invest in our project.
We're hoping to raise a meagre £200 to be able to create a truly original (and dark) comedic view into the psyche of someone who'd willingly risk their life for other people in the name of "Justice". Richard Fingerling, a reporter, is invited to interview this new Vigilante, and follows him through his trials and tribulations.
So if you're interested, please click the link below and help us achieve this short, if you're not interested then thanks for reading anyway.

Stoopid Studios : The making of The Sandwich
THE SANDWICH
So here's a link to Stoopid Studio's latest film. Our second scripted film (written by yours truly) and below is some waffle on the processes behind it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4UkSYs2on0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
One evening on my long walk home, I was thinking about my as yet unborn child and had an idea. I imagined that it was quite possible for my future son/daughter, to travel back in time and kill me, now that I had already done my bit in creating them.
My mind had an argument with itself on the nature of the paradox and before I knew it, I had walked the 3 miles home with no recollection of how I got there.
Well I wrote this down and changed some elements of it, but the idea of children from the future coming back to visit their father is the driving factor behind it. Instead of trying to kill the father they're trying to stop or encourage him to eat a sandwich.
It didn't take me too long to write but I had to keep going over it to make sure it made some sort of internal sense to the characters, even if the audience was baffled by the entire premise. I tried to explain all of this to my long suffering lady wife Louise, but honestly it took ages to read through it with her as quantum mechanics isn't her chosen subject in mastermind.
I gave the scripts out to the actors before the shoot and most of them had learnt their lines or at least enough of their lines for them to wing it (like I did) also at one point we realised that I'd written one of the characters to be pro when he should have been against, so a quick re-write and we were good. I also told the "children" to wear clothing that they think their character would wear in the future, which I felt would add a nice/subtle visual touch to it. Matt, who plays the last child of the father, hadn't got that text message, so instead I dug out some clothes and a wig which look suitably daft enough.
The Sandwich, I hope, is supposed to be a character in itself, as the whole future(s) fate(s) is(are) decided on if it is or isn't eaten. I'd written "Cheese Sandwich" in the script, but added a little extra something in the form of Jam. If you haven't tried a cheese and jam sandwich, I suggest you do so.
The piece took on a life of it's own really and I'm generally happy with how it turned out. The editing isn't as tight as it could have been, but I am going to say that this is part of the aesthetic of the piece because so much time travel is happening it's distorted reality. Music was nabbed as per usual from the same composer that I use for all our stuff (he has a great range and they're free as long as you mention him) the only bit that wasn't quite kosher was the music for the speed-up bit which was taken from Rayman Origins.
I've re-written the script after we filmed it as there are certain bits I thought could be improved, including the second time the first son appears, I thought it'd be funnier if he only had one arm this time and made out that he never had an arm. Also, Matt's character wouldn't refer to his universe's other dad being dead as he wouldn't know that in this universe his other dad had died.
Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy. If you'd like a copy of the screenplay or think you could make a better version, send me a line to addyace@aol.com

Trailer - Edward Lobe in Dead Before Dawn

Hello again!!
I know it's unsual for me to be updating this much, you must think I've become un-employed, or have swine flu and nothing to do...
Well neither are true, hopefully, and to celebrate that fact, here's the trailer for our next short.
"Edward Lobe in Dead Before Dawn" tells the story of the titular Edward Lobe (an eccentric Paranormal investigator) and his long suffering ward Frederick on a seemingly routine invesitgation, but it soon becomes clear that they've been "Ackbard"
Kristofus cobbled the trailer together last night out of the footage from the 2nd half of the short, the 1st half is being filmed tomorrow in a graveyard.
Keep your eyes on my Department 14 blog, which will be giving you more details on the characters and setting of Dark World, the name given to the world in which our films are set.

Aftermath 03 : Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins is one of the greatest childhood films ever made, according to the homless man who goes to my dentist, and I'm inclined to agree with him in some ways, however I wasn't taken in by the hollywood ending... I now reveal for you loyal readers, what actually happened after the credits rolled on Mary Poppins.

Mr Banks was fired from his job at the bank, due to his son not giving a tupence to the paedophillic bank owner Mr. Dawes. When asked for a statement, Mr. Banks simply said "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" and a joke which caused Mr. Dawes to float to the ceiling with laughter. hmm...
His family worried about Mr Banks, tried to track him down, however when they did find him, he wasn't upset, infact he was happy... manically so... and suggested that they all go fly a kite. What the children and his wife didn't realise however was that Mr. Banks was using "let's go fly a kite" as a euphemism for killing his family then himself, but luckily Mr. Dawes Jr turned up and made Mr. Banks a partner at the bank due to his father's laughter based demise.
Mary Poppins then flew off into the distance, not to return again until Ghostbusters 2, where she comes down and steals baby Oscar in a pram for "Vigo!"
Mr. Banks isn't a partner for long however, as the coroner working on Mr. Dawes deducts that it wasn't laughter that killed him, it was the cyanide Mr. Dawes Jr. had been giving him. Mr. Dawes Jr is soon arrested and Mr. Banks is now fully in control of the bank. Due to his increased work load he reverts back to his old self in no time.
Jane and Michael, fed up of their father decide to go and find Bert as he may be able to help them find Mary Poppins... on their way they bump into a colorful character called Dodger. He tells them he can show them where Bert is, so takes them to see his boss, a nice gentlmen called Fagin. Fagin sells Jane to the underground Jewish sex trade and gets Michael hooked on Heroin, forcing him to pickpocket for him to get his next fix. Jane never see's her sixteenth birthday and Michael is eaten by a crocodile.
Mrs. Banks realises through her grief that she is infact a lesbian and falls in love with a lovely young woman. When she tells Mr. Banks she's leaving he is worried about a scandal and ends up in a heated discussion with her, well one thing leads to another and he kills her. Distraught he decides to leave everything and start a new life... which is where Bednobs and Broomsticks picks up.
What about Dick Van Dyke's irritatingly cockney character Bert? Well, he discovers the body of Mrs. Banks and is accused of her murder by a corrupt Judge, and is sent to Australia for a not so jolly holiday... years later however he comes back with a new name, Sweeny Todd.

Aftermath #02 The Goonies

Goonies never say... what?
The Goonies, a great family film and it made you want to go on adventures. I used to check the attic for treaure maps on a regular basis, but all I found was dead bodies... lots and lots of dead bodies...
Anyway, the end of the film (spoilers) has the titular children thwarting some baddies with the help of a loveable mutant that they leave to die (but comes back at the end) and taking some pricesless jewels from the dubiously named "One eye willy". They then give the jewels to their parents and they no longer have to sell their homes to make way for a golf course! And they all live happily ever... oh wait...
One Eye Willy stole those jewels from someone, let's say, the spanish. Now the Spanish have been looking for these fabled jewles for some time now, and to stop an international incident the US government takes the jewels off of the Goonie's parents, without re-embursing them. Meaning they still have to sell their homes to the golf course man (whose real name believe it or not is Elgin, I kid ye not, no wonder the guy is so bitter.)
The friends split up and go there seperate ways and grow up.
Sloth died shortly after the events of the film as the Fratelli's (not the band) used to give him a drug hormone to keep him alive... with them in prison, he didn't have the drugs to keep him going and was found dead on the toilet with a "Babe Ruth" bar sticking out of his blood stained mouth.
Data (short-round) now works as a lowly office drone in a robotics company, he goes home to his american wife who is drunk by 4pm and insults his manhood before going out to see her various lovers, he cries himself to sleep wondering if his children are his own.
Chunk soon got over the pain of Sloth's demise by eating more and more. Chunk loved food so much that he got a job at McDonalds, he ate more burgers than he sold and his family had an intervention on his behalf. After he saw what it was doing to his family, he stopped eating and became a weight loss fanatic, however he was run over in his mid 20's when out on a jog.
Mouth ended up getting put into foster care after his constant use of spanish resulted in the death of a housekeeper. Mouth ended up getting hooked on Heroin and spent the remainder of his life using his mouth to get money from businessmen in dark alleyways, however things took a bad turn and he stole a car and accidently killed a jogger. Mouth is currently in prison.
Andy ended up running away from her now home in Arkham as it was "too weird" and moved to Hollywood in search of fame and fortune... however several teen porn movies later she leaped from her penthouse apartment in a drug enfused state. (As can be seen at the start of Lethal Weapon 1)
Steph (the one who looked like a guy) went on to become a succesful fashion designer and New York socialite and raving lesbian.
Brand moved out when his kid brother Mikey became detactched from the world. He finally passed his driving test and became a truck driver, however the Fratelli's (not the band) caught up with him and slit him from ear to ear. His remains were posted to the remaining Goonies as a warning that they were next, shortly after the murder however the Fratelli's (not the band) found a new kind of religion and gave up their ways.
Mikey grew bitter at how he'd been robbed his victory and became detactched from the world. He spent his time in the attic of their new house searching for treasure maps and when he couldn't find them he cried. One day Mikey stopped looking for treasure and stopped crying and simply looked out his bedroom window and started looking on the internet at anti-goverment web pages. It wasn't too long before he wound up part of a terrorist cell and is currently hiding Osama Bin Laden in his attic.
As for Golf Course man and his boy, they lived rich and rewarding lives... thanks Spielburg!(if that is your real name!)

Aftermath #01 - Home Alone
In the Aftermath section, I'll be theorising what happens after the credits have rolled in the movies.
How the movie ended:Kevin McCallister has been re-united with his family and foiled two burgulars from stealing everything from his house!!!

But there's no way they would have lived happily ever after...
Kevin stole from a local shop when he was scared by the "shovel man". Now I'm going to let this one slide as the kindly shovel man, probably paid for Kevin's stuff as he's a nice enough sort.
Well, Kevin did stop them, however the means as to which he did this are suspect. Harry and Marv would have told their lawyer what the kid did, and sued for damages. No where in the real world would you get away with attacking burgulars with such flavour as he did. It would be revealed that Kevin was abandoned by his parents and this tramua led to all the problems that he had to face. So a social worker would take Kevin AND all the other children off of their parents hands, whilst they face criminal prosecution. This breaks up the McCallister's marriage, she marries the next year to a travelling salesman that beats her every night, and she has an operation to remove her ovaries due to the fear of having another child that she may abandon. The father turns into a recluse and hangs himself 10 years later on christmas eve.
As for the kindly "shovel-man" he would first be arrested for assault on the burgulars and dies alone in prison... all the children apart from kevin end up in stable homes but what happens to Kevin?
Well Kevin is asigned to a psychiatrist who breaks Kevin down to a quivering wreck, Kevin goes from foster home to foster home, being abused and self harming. However after a name change from Kevin to John, he becomes a succesful designer and grows up with an interseting view on life. He's very intelligent but when his partner's unborn child is killed by a drug addict, it sends him over the edge. He uses his childhood memories to set up traps for other people... he eventually becomes known as Jigsaw... and so starts the Saw franchise. I think I've just spoilt saw 6 for you all!!
